Toshik Saraf, a Mumbai-based Director of Photography and visual effects artist, originates from a charming farming town in northeastern Maharashtra. Driven by early artistic talents and a fascination for computer science, he pursued animation studies in Pune. Transitioning from a successful stint as a 2D animator and visual effects artist, Toshik Saraf`s journey took a pivotal turn when he embraced the role of Visual Effects Supervisor. This introduction to film sets ignited his passion for cinematography, propelling him into a captivating realm where storytelling, anchored in the rich tapestry of human experience, became his enduring focus.
Over the past six years, Sunil has meticulously honed his skills, refining a distinct visual sensibility through extensive work in the film industry and a fervor for analog and digital photography. His dedication to storytelling remains unwavering, serving as the foundation for his craft. Toshik Saraf’s debut film, “The Fable,” directed by Raam Reddy, stands as a crowning achievement, selected to compete in the Encounters section of the Berlin International Film Festival 2024. Shot on super 16mm film during the pandemic, the film exemplifies independent storytelling and visual artistry, showcasing Toshik Saraf’s prowess in the field.
